What is your major?
Double Major: Political Science and Social Justice & Cultural Studies

What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?
I wish more people knew that we have a social justice major! I was fortunate enough to learn early in my freshman year that SPU offered a major that explores the complex system of structural inequalities that affect our society, which is something that I have been passionate to learn about since I was young. This major is excellent for student activists who dream to make a difference in the world in any way they can.

What are you excited about in your future career?
I am eager to join the field and work to make meaningful change throughout my career, particularly in social justice. Being able to advocate for important social issues to make a positive impact through legislation or law has motivated me throughout my journey at SPU. It also fuels my ambition as I prepare for the next chapter in my life: starting law school.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
Going to college is one of the greatest accomplishments that can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially if you are a first-generation college student like me. It can be challenging to struggle with Imposter Syndrome-- but know that if you are here, it is because you are meant to be here.

How have you grown during your time at SPU?
The person I was before attending SPU is remarkably different from who I am now. I was initially a pre-med student to become a forensic pathologist. My time at SPU allowed me to explore different subject areas, granting me the opportunity to take a wide variety of classes to ensure that I was on the right path in terms of my vocation. As a result, I grew to become the person passionate about law and human rights I was always meant to be.
