What was your most impactful class or professor? My most impactful class was human resources with Dr. Annie Kato in the winter of 24-25. The way that we learned hands-on through interviewing a real HR professional made me seriously consider human resources as a future career that I otherwise never would have explored.
How have you grown during your time at SPU? My independence has grown immensely, along with my confidence as a person, child of God, and professional. I've been given many opportunities to step up in leadership here, and accomplished projects, internships, and career conversations that I didn't dream possible before starting at SPU.
What are you excited for in your future career? I'm excited to know that I don't have to have "one perfect job" post grad. Many professionals have a career journey that looks like different positions, companies, and roles. That doesn't mean failure to find your calling, actually the opposite. Calling is a continual journey that I can not wait to begin
What advice do you have for incoming students? My advice would be to lean in, ask questions, and meet people. Students, professors, and faculty here at SPU want to see you succeed, which is a unique atmosphere. If you apply for positions that are outside of your comfort zone, and continue to have conversations with your peers and leaders, your time here at SPU will be well spent. Also, take Early Career Prep with Dr. Annie Kato. Whatever your major is, if you're at all stressed about getting an internship or job post-grad, this class will set you up for success.
