What was your most impactful class or professor? One of the most impactful classes I took was HON 2000: Culture and Social Systems with Dr. Mason. This was my very first college class and engaging with the perspectives and topics of this class shaped the rest of my undergraduate experiences.
What do you enjoy most about your major? I have been blessed to have research built into my classes in the physiology major, whether that be purifying proteins in the biochemistry lab or running a plaque assay in virology. Having the opportunity to not just learn techniques but also apply them to create new knowledge has been an invaluable experience.
How have you grown during your time at SPU? I have grown so much as both a student and a servant leader during my time at SPU. Especially through being part of Learn & Serve. I have found ways to translate what I learn in the classroom to the wider community.
What advice do you have for incoming students? As I reflect on the last four years, what most sticks out to me is not the classes I've taken or the grades I've worked for, but the people I've formed lasting connections with. I encourage incoming students to jump in from the beginning and take advantage of the opportunities SPU provides to engage with the larger community, such as study abroad trips, volunteer activities, and student leadership.
