Andrew Yang is an American entrepreneur and former presidential candidate. A graduate of Brown University and Columbia Law School, Yang began his career as a corporate lawyer. He then moved on to working in startups and early-stage growth companies as a founder or executive from 2000 to 2009.
In 2011, he founded Venture for America, a nonprofit organization focused on creating jobs in cities struggling to recover from the Great Recession. More recently, he was a candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.
Yang is the author of two books, Smart People Should Build Things: How to Restore Our Culture of Achievement, Build a Path for Entrepreneurs, and Create New Jobs in America (HarperCollins 2014); and The War on Normal People: The Truth About America's Disappearing Jobs and Why Universal Basic Income Is Our Future (Hachette Books, 2018).
