Excellence in Teaching Award

On behalf of the Provost and the Faculty Life Office, the Faculty Development Committee will be accepting applications for the Excellence in Teaching award until Monday, January 29, 2024.

The Excellence in Teaching Fellowship honors a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in the practice of teaching and cultivation of student learning. The award is graciously endowed by Patrica M. Bentz, and awardees receive a $500 stipend and travel accommodations to a national teaching and learning conference. The total award is valued at approximately $2,500.

Completed applications should include the application form, 500 words on your philosophy of teaching excellence, 500 words on your philosophy of bringing Christ into the classroom, 500 words on evidence of continuous improvement and innovation in the classroom, and a recent (within the past year) letter of support from a colleague in or outside your department, after your colleague has observed your course (using the peer observation rubric) (PDF).

The recipient of the award will be announced at the annual Faculty Governance and Awards Luncheon in June.

Please submit completed applications to flo@spu.edu by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024.
