Shannon Smith is the Chief of Staff for the King County Department of Information Technology. Her role is focused on the intersection of business and technology, leading the customer account team for departmental support, and is the sponsor for the Equity and Social Justice initiatives for IT, including community outreach, training and education, the alignment of Lean and Equity methodologies, and finding innovative technology solutions for underserved communities in King County. She has spent most of 2020 in front of all technical support for the County’s pandemic response.
Shannon previously worked for the City of Bellevue, where she managed the business applications team and led the Data Analytics initiative, which launched the city’s first data catalog and set of enterprise data services. Before that, she was at the City of Seattle, managing their IT Portfolio, migrating the city to Office 365, and leading the consolidation of business IT groups into the Seattle IT department.
Her other roles have been outside of the government space, in corporate, nonprofit and startup companies. Shannon loves to hike, snowshoe and camp with her family when she’s not at work.
