NUR 4950: Perioperative Nursing Practice (2021-2022)

Focuses on emerging and specialized topics in nursing. This section is an introduction to perioperative nursing practice, with a specific focus on the intraoperative phase of care. The course will include didactic (knowledge acquisition), laboratory (skill acquisition), and clinical (application) activities. Course content includes roles and responsibilities of the various team members, principles of aseptic technique, patient safety, universal protocols, standards of care related to selected procedures, and ethical, moral, and legal issues pertinent to this care setting. May be repeated for credit up to 10 credits.
