UCOL 1000: The Power of Yet (2023-2024)

View all UCOL classes

This course, a weekly discussion-based seminar, introduces first-year college students to learning in an academic community. In this colloquium, students will explore their purpose and meaning as an SPU student and develop skills for academic success. Our focus is on the “power of yet:” that seeing yourself as constantly developing and capable of continual growth helps you to be unafraid of failing or giving up. Obstacles become challenges, and perseverance becomes a habit. Students will discover new places to study on campus, how to work with faculty, and how to connect with campus resources. They will also engage in planning coursework, choosing majors and minors, and laying out their academic path. Instructor's Discipline: Learning Specialist
