This course, a weekly discussion-based seminar, introduces first-year Spanish speaking students to their new University Life by focusing on students' home language. This colloquium is intended to provide you with information and tools for achieving academic success at SPU. Seminar topics will include college culture and expectations, deepening study skills, balancing various demands on your time, managing stress, planning your academic pathway and courses, working with faculty, and learning about various campus resources. Additionally, there will be discussions about culture, basic budget and financial management, and some selected topics from the instructors’ disciplines. This colloquium will be taught in both English and Spanish. One instructor comes from Special Education (with Mexican heritage) another from Computer Science (with Honduran heritage), and the other from the Spanish Language Program.
