HIS 3725: Women and Gender in the Middle East (2021-2022)

This class explores the history of women and gender in the Middle East from the beginnings of Islam to the present day. Using historical sources, students will conduct research on topics including: veiling, marriage, divorce, Islamic Law, colonialism, and women’s movements. This course satisfies a research seminar requirement for history majors, but is open to students from all majors.
