UCOL 1000: The Eruption of Mt. Vesuvius (2023-2024)

This course, a weekly discussion-based seminar, introduces first-year college students to learning in an academic community. In this course, we will study the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD from literary, historical, artistic, and scientific perspectives. Students will also engage in planning coursework, choosing majors and minors, laying out their academic path, working with faculty, and connecting with campus resources.
