Join us for the 14th annual Perkins Lecture Series, Tuesday, April 30, 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., in First Free Methodist Church. This year, Dr. John Perkins will be joined by Erna Kim Hackett, lead pastor of The Way in Berkeley, California.
In 2012, the Perkins Center hosted the Holla If You Hear Me Tour, inviting a robust discourse in spirituality, race, and culture focusing through the struggle for equity and justice through the African-American male story.
In October 2014, Tali Hairston facilitated a dialogue with SPU faculty presenting a historical and theological context of the events at Ferguson and the struggles in race relations.

The 13th annual Perkins lecture series — Faith, Race, and Evangelicalism — was held April 24, 2018, and included a visit from center co-founder Dr. John Perkins, along with Dr. Michael Emerson, provost of North Park University in Illinois.
A morning chapel with Dr. John Perkins and Dr. Michael Emerson was followed by a special afternoon forum with guest Dr. Emerson, and responses by Chaplain Bo Lim and Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Sandra Mayo.
In April 2015, SPU hosted an international conference presented by the Perkins Center in partnership with CBTE and ScholarLeaders International, exploring challenges and hopes of reconciliation with interdisciplinary scholars, visionaries, and leaders from around the world.
