Orientation Schedule — Parents & Guests

9 a.m.–2 p.m.

Check-In and Move-In
Upper Gwinn and Residential Areas

Residential students with last names A–L can move in between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and residential students with last names M–Z can move in between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. International students and students not living on campus, regardless of last name, are invited to check in between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

  • Parents of on-campus residential students: Student must first check-in in Upper Gwinn before accessing their residence hall or apartment. Access to their residence hall will be available only starting at students’ scheduled check-in time and not before.
  • Parents of commuter students: Our commuter students are expected to attend the full Orientation program and can check in Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and they are invited to participate in afternoon programming, explore campus, and join for the Welcome Dinner in the evening.

Student Services Fair

Students and their parents are invited to learn about all the amazing resources and supportive staff students have available to them during their time here and beyond. Our team is here for students, and at our Student Services Fair you can learn all about opportunities and resources they have at SPU.

Welcome Dinner

You and your student can enjoy this complimentary dinner and connect with other new students and their families. Dinner times are assigned to students and their guests according to their check-in times.

If your student had an early check-in time (9–11 a.m.), you’ll be invited to begin dinner at 5 p.m. If your student has a late-morning or early afternoon check-in time (11 a.m.–2 p.m.), you’ll be invited to begin dinner at 5:15 p.m.
