Vehicle Safety During the Holiday Break

OSS offers a free Car Watch program for students leaving their vehicles on campus during breaks.

  1. Make sure your vehicle is registered and up-to-date with OSS (registration is free).  Vehicle registration can be completed online.
  2. Visit the Office of Safety and Security (601 West Emerson) and fill out a Car Watch form. Leave a set of keys with OSS.
  3. You will be assigned a stall in either the Emerson Hall or Arnett Hall garage.
  4. Park in the assigned Emerson or Arnett Garage spot. You will be granted temporary card access into the garage.

Important Safety Recommendations

  • Make sure to remove all valuables from your vehicle. This includes electronics, bags, and any other items that might attract thieves.
  • Always lock all doors and ensure that windows are completely closed before leaving your vehicle.
  • Consider adding an extra layer of security with a steering wheel lock to deter potential theft.

Please note that while OSS makes a good faith effort to periodically check vehicles, SPU/OSS assumes no responsibility for potential loss or damage.

Walking or Vehicle Escorts

OSS offers a walking or vehicle escort, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Due to safety protocols, escorts will be limited to assisting those experiencing an immediate safety concern, illness, or mobility concerns. An escort can be obtained by dialing x2922 on any campus phone or (206) 281-2922 from other phones. OSS can travel up to 8 blocks off campus for a safety escort but cannot cross over any bridges.

2024-25 Vehicle Registration and Parking ePermits

All students, faculty, staff, and visitors who park a vehicle on Seattle Pacific University property or in city streets near SPU, must register their vehicle with Safety and Security using the Parking Forms. More information is available on our Parking Information website.

Employees Can Enroll in the Commute Trip Reduction Program

Employees with an existing ORCA card can re-enroll by completing the online CTR Participation Agreement Form.  If you are enrolling in the program for the first time, or need a replacement ORCA card, you can pick a new one up at the Office of Safety and Security any weekday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. after submitting the online CTR Participation Agreement Form. Once your form is processed, the one-time annual fee will be deducted from your paycheck.
