EDU 2000: Introduction to Teaching (2026-2027)

Serves as an induction to the program and a general orientation to teaching and foundational issues in education. Surveys organization and funding of schools, education policy and reform, requirements for certification, and program assessments, among other topics. Emphasis given to exploring cultural competence and analyzing characteristics of effective teachers. The course also emphasizes participatory and applied learning through volunteer service in King County schools and enrichment programs. Fee(s): SOE UG Field Experience Fee
