Our end-of-the-year chapel service will be a time to celebrate our SPU community and graduating seniors. Join us for an all-community worship service. All are invited.

Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 various times and on-campus locations

Graduate faculty members and school deans will hold individual school/program hooding ceremonies prior to the Graduate Commencement ceremony at various on-campus locations. Faculty, please dress in academic regalia.

Saturday, June 11, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Tiffany Loop (line up by 10:45 a.m.)

Graduate faculty members, please meet between Moyer Hall and Peterson Hall, at 10:45 a.m., to line up for the processional. Those faculty who will be hooding doctoral students in the ceremony will line up at the front of faculty processional. Graduate faculty will then process into Tiffany Loop and will be seated by faculty marshals up at the front of the seating area.

Note: This is an outdoor ceremony. If rain is in the forecast, please plan accordingly. See the rain plan for more details.

All faculty are expected to attend either this ceremony or the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. If you are unable to attend any of the required events, you must receive written permission from your dean to be absent.

Saturday, June 11, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., Tiffany Loop (line up by 2:45 p.m.)

Faculty members, please meet between Moyer Hall and Peterson Hall, at 2:45 p.m., to line up for the processional. Please dress in academic regalia. All faculty are expected to participate.

Sunday, June 12, 2 – 4:30 p.m., Tacoma Dome, (arrive by 12 p.m.)

The ceremony will be held at Tacoma Dome. Faculty, please arrive by 12 p.m. A catered lunch will be served.

  • Please arrive no later than 12 p.m. to check in with an SPU staff member.
  • All faculty will enter through the NE security entrance (parking is free and available in lots A, C, D, F, and G. ADA spaces are available in Lots E and K. Please do NOT park at the LeMay Museum, as you will have to pay). Once you've arrived at the Dome, please meet in the Exhibition Hall Section D [in the NE corner]. 
  • Faculty marshals, under direction of Presiding Marshal Derek Wood, will assist with the processional line-up.
  • Consider carpooling to the Tacoma Dome.  Check directions and parking page, for more information.

To Rent Regalia:

Please contact Bookstore manager SPU Bookstore by Friday, April 15. Please indicate your height, as well as your advanced degree (master's or doctorate) and the institution from which you received your degree. If you have a doctorate, please indicate whether you would like a cap or tam.

To Purchase Regalia:

Please visit the Grad Fest Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday April 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., at the Bookstore. Our Herff Jones representative will give you custom purchasing options, take your measurements, etc. If you cannot attend Grad Fest, but still want to purchase regalia, please send this completed order form to Herff Jones representative Howard Byrd by Friday, April 15.
