Alia Haro

Alia HaroWhat is your major?
Music Production

What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?
There’s so much to learn. I love having options. There are a variety of creative subjects being offered, including film scoring, video game scoring, and sound design. We get opportunities off campus, too. It’s fun collaborating with local artists and going to other studios and venues.

What was your most impactful class?
It’s difficult to choose one. Many of my classes helped shape me into a better artist and peer. I enjoyed taking professional development classes. Connecting with professionals in the music industry has been helpful and cool.

What are some of your career goals?
I love being a versatile artist. I can see myself taking different opportunities. I plan on continuing my journey as a songwriter and performing artist. I may step into photography or film. I’m still reflecting on everything I enjoy, so it’ll be fun finding my niche. Who knows? I may do things outside of music, too.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
Make time to connect with people. That could mean joining a club or ensemble you’re interested in, hanging out with someone from a class, or going to campus events and meeting someone new. Having people to spend quality time with helped me thrive and find balance in my college years. Creating a network can be helpful post graduation, too.
