What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?
Faculty members (especially within the Sociology Department) are truly invested in student development and lifestyle. There are copious professors who wish to accommodate to their students' needs and values.
What was your most impactful class?
My most impactful class was "Policing and Communities" taught by Dr. Snedker. This course exemplified structural and systemic issues among policing. The relevance of this course was significant as the rise of Black Lives Matters protest surged. To implement course teachings and live through pivotal social movements is historical. I gained first-hand experience about what was being taught.
What are some of your career goals?
In the future, I hope to attain a degree in the field of immigration law at Boston University. Following graduation, I hope to intern with World Relief as a legal intern, where I will work alongside refugee and migrant families in the Seattle area.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
For all, especially students of color...do be not discouraged by navigating new systems, take advantage of the opportunities allocated and continuously find love in the work you pursue.
