I am majoring with a BA in History and I will be certified in Secondary Education.

What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?
History is only boring if you don’t question the past. When you stop asking questions, you’re just reading a list of events.

What was your most impactful class?
My most impactful class has to be Genocide: A Comparative Study with Dr. Hughes. She is such a kind-hearted person that ironically teaches a dark and heavy topic. She brings not only a nice balance to this heavy subject, but really made me question humanity by the time the class ended. I still have my textbook on my bookshelf two years later.

What are some of your career goals?
I would love to teach history in middle school. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful internship at McClure Middle School and I know this age can be challenging for many, but I find it the most rewarding. My kiddos are so great.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
My biggest advice for incoming students would be to try new things. Use this new chapter in your life to explore your beliefs and political views, the types of food you eat, the classes you are interested in, and most importantly the people you surround yourself with. College is a time of exploration and it’s hard to know who you truly are without knowing who you aren’t first.
