What is something you wish everyone knew about your major? Psychology provides knowledge and skills which illuminate spaces for reflection and challenge all persons to be better as individuals and in community with others.

What was your most impactful class or professor? Professor DeHeavalyn Pullium has gifted me with her wisdom, care, and guidance throughout my SPU career. As an advisor, she has given me a compassionate ear and informed advice. As a professor, she has challenged and encouraged me to think critically about how I synthesize class content into my worldview and actions. As a person, she has shown kindness to myself and my peers through intentionality and patience which inspires me to love just as fiercely.

What are you excited for in your future career? I look forward to providing people spaces in which they can reflect on, explore, and express themselves by offering tools, compassion, curiosity, and affirmation as they practice courageous love of the self and of others.

What advice do you have for incoming students? Ask for help, go to campus events, be friends with the campus dining staff members, spend as much time outside as possible, use your Outlook calendar, and trust yourself (especially when you’re scared, I promise you’ve got this!).

How have you grown during your time at SPU? SPU has provided me with experiences that have strengthened my leadership, expanded my community, and increased my understanding of our call as Christ’s body to love as God loves.
