The Washington State Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) recently reapproved preparation programs at SPU, recognizing SPU’s teacher and counselor programs as exemplary in the area of knowledge and skills.
The Board noted SPU’s use of an electronic portfolio that shows evidence of student learning and faculty feedback, as well as a comprehensive professional development plan to establish tangible steps for future growth.
The Board also noted the School of Education’s school counseling professional development plan, linked to internship experiences, coursework, program standards, and reflection on learning. They recognized the school counseling plan for its overall alignment of training components and use of assessment for continuous improvement.
