Professional Certification

Professional Certificates

The Professional Certificate is the advanced-level certificate for Washington state educators. SPU's Center for Professional Education offers a 4-credit ProTeach Support Seminar for teachers, and 6-credit Professional Certificate programs for administrators and school counselors.

Our professional certification programs are designed around self-assessment, professional growth, and demonstration of competencies, and are founded on two key components: reflection and collaboration.

ProTeach Support Seminar
As a Washington state teacher, you must earn a Professional Certificate prior to the expiration of your Residency Certificate. SPU's Center for Professional Education offers the ProTeach Support Seminar to help you prepare to submit your portfolio assessment. Learn more

Administrator Professional Certification
As a Washington state administrator, you must earn a Professional Certificate prior to the expiration of your Residency Certificate. SPU's Center for Professional Education offers a 10-month (August to June) program to help you meet state requirements for Professional Certification. Develop and demonstrate competencies as a leader with the ability to transform schools and impact student learning. Learn more

School Counselor (ESA) Professional Certification
As a Washington state school counselor, you must earn a Professional Certificate prior to the expiration of your Residency Certificate. SPU's Center for Professional Education offers a one-year (June to June) program to guide eligible candidates through the professional certification process. We invite you to request more information and an application for our 2015-16 cohorts by emailing procert@spu.edu. Applications are due May 15, 2015. Learn more
