Seattle Pacific Seminary is pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Sigler has accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Wesleyan Theology and United Methodist Liaison. He will be teaching an adjunct seminary course this June, and then begin a full course load in September for the 2015-2016 school year. Dr. Sigler will be teaching seminary courses in church history, worship, United Methodist history, doctrine, polity, and undergraduate University Foundations courses. He will also work with United Methodist students and represent the seminary to various United Methodist judicatories.
BACKGROUND
Matthew Sigler holds a PhD in liturgical studies from Boston University where his work focused on Methodist identity and liturgical praxis. Previously, Dr. Sigler served for twelve years as a music minister in the church and has written on contemporary worship as well as lyrical theology. Prior to SPS, he taught at Southwestern College in Kansas as the visiting scholar in the Religion Department. Along with his wife Shannon and son Elijah, he looks forward to joining the SPU community.
