Academic counselors advocate for student success by supporting the advising relationship between student and faculty advisors, connecting students with resources, and providing support in moments of academic challenge.
Faculty advisors serve as the primary academic advising relationship for students. They offer overall guidance for students and specifically oversee the major and minor requirements completed by students.
Student financial services counselor or financial services coordinators help with student accounts, and answers questions about the FAFSA, scholarships and grants, and tuition.
The residence life team includes residence life coordinators (RLCs), resident advisors (RAs), student ministry coordinators (SMCs), and the hall councils.
Veterans’ and their dependents’ resources include a Vet Corp Navigator to serve veterans with questions, support, and services through the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs.

This is the place to find links to CIS HelpDesk, Canvas, and more. Find answers to your basic digital questions and get connected with departments on campus that can help support you as a student.
Academic support
Center for Learning offers guidance/resources to help you succeed through academic coaching, free small-group and drop-in tutoring for selected classes, private-pay tutoring, and study-skills workshops and classes.
Disability Support Services works with students with a documented physical, medical, psychological, and/or learning disability to arrange needed academic accommodations.
The Library offers an array of services to aid undergraduate study and research. Both on campus and off, you can access materials and support for your academic needs.
Research, Reading, and Writing Studio serves students seeking to read, write, and research better at any stage of the writing process. Writing assistants are available starting the second week of each quarter.
Office of Academic Counseling helps students achieve their educational goals by providing strategic resources, advocacy, and access.

Career resources
Career Accelerator courses are online continuing education courses that can elevate your career and skills on your schedule, costing only $250 per course.
Center for Career and Calling is where you can talk to career and vocation counselors, get résumé help, find information about internships, make employer connections, and find strategies for your job search.
Handshake is SPU’s job board, and includes on- and off-campus jobs, work study positions, and local volunteer opportunities. It also increases your exposure to national and global opportunities.
Help a Falcon Fly matches students with alumni and professionals offering short-term projects, jobs, internships, mock interviews, or informational interviews.
Mentor Program connects you with professionals in your chosen industry who can give you informed insight on what a specific industry entails.
Student Employment Office answers students questions about on- and off-campus employment, as well as work-study eligibility.
Switchboard connects with the SPU network to conduct your job search, crowd-source advice, seek out alumni, and connect with other students.
Student life resources
Falcon Card Services is home of the Falcon Card, your campus ID. This card permits access to campus buildings and can be used for meal-plan use, Falcon Fund transactions, SPU Library privileges, and admission to campus activities. If lost or damaged, visit Falcon Card Services office for a replacement (a fee may apply).
International Student Services assists students with their non-immigrant status including visa concerns, curricular practical training, optional practical training authorization, cultural adjustment, and general support.
Multi-Ethnic Programs supports students from racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse backgrounds and identities. Provides students with opportunities to build community, connect to resources, and develop as leaders.
Office of Safety and Security provides parking permits, ORCA cards, and commuter information. Open and staffed 24/7, OSS also offers a walking or vehicle escort 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, self-defense workshops for women, and more.
Student Financial Services answers your financial aid questions, questions about payments and billing, loans, grants, scholarships, and the all-important FAFSA form.
Student Involvement and Leadership is committed to offering you a full range of social, educational, and enrichment opportunities. Find information about student clubs, get involved with a student organization, and much more.
Student Union Building is where you’ll find the Unicom desk, which is where you can check out bus and swim passes. Several food options and lots of tables and a place to hang out. The ASSP offices are here, and you can check out a bus pass.
University Ministries equips students in many ways. Our aim is holistic formation in students — spiritually, intellectually, and vocationally.
Wellness resources
Clubs and activities are a great way to get involved and meet students who share your interests.
Health Services is staffed with nurse practitioners who offer primary care, can diagnose, write prescriptions, and can refer you to a specialty clinic, if needed.
Intramurals include everything from Ultimate Frisbee to basketball to Zumba. Getting involved in intramurals at SPU just might be one of the highlights of your quarter.
Student Counseling Center offers you a wide variety of services, from crisis intervention and health or nutritional counseling to relationship and group counseling, psychiatric evaluations, consultations, and education.
Student Financial Wellness provides information about emergency help, budgeting resources, food and housing resources, and more to help prevent the financial stresses that can lead to anxiety and depression.
