In 1985, Vera E. Walls donated a generous gift to Seattle Pacific University to endow a professorship in Wesleyan Studies in memory of her husband, Paul T. Walls.

In the words of the endowment agreement, “The chair is to be dedicated to the integration of the Wesleyan-Arminian traditions within the various educational programs of the University.”

The agreement further stipulated that  “the occupant of the chair shall be a distinguished and productive scholar who embodies the Wesleyan heritage of the University …. The occupant will be expected to publish articles and books, present professional papers, occasionally deliver all-campus lectures, and serve the University and the Free Methodist Church as a Wesleyan spokesperson in regional, national, and international forums.”

Over three decades later, the Walls Professorship is still going strong. Learn more about Paul T. Walls, as well as the current Walls professor and previous Walls professors. You can also watch or listen to previous Walls lectures.
