Elli Fox

Hi! My name is Elli, and I am a 2020 SPU grad and a first year Physician Assistant (PA) student at Idaho State University. My interest in medicine began when I was in high school volunteering in the emergency department at the Veterans Hospital in Boise, Idaho. It was there that I was able to combine my love for science and for helping others. When I came to SPU, I wanted to pursue a degree that would challenge me, provide me with the knowledge to do well in graduate school and provide me numerous opportunities outside of medicine. The cell and molec major was a perfect fit for me! I had the opportunity to perform research projects with faculty and fellow classmates and learn something very important to me - I don’t love working in a lab. While I enjoyed the opportunities to work on projects for genetics, molecular biology and a genetics-focused honors project, I missed being able to interact with people in meaningful ways. This only strengthened my resolve to become a PA!

I applied to PA school between my junior and senior year at SPU and began PA school less than 3 months after graduation. Applying can be super stressful, intimidating and confusing - especially when you need 2,000 hours of healthcare experience prior to applying! My hope is that, as a mentor, I can help others navigate the process and provide tools to help them achieve their goals. Since I am in Idaho, I would love to chat via email or phone if you have any questions. Can’t wait to hear from you!

P.S. When I came to SPU I was pre-med. However, after multiple conversations with family, faculty, mentors, doctors, PA’s and friends I decided I wanted to become a PA. If anyone is trying to decide which route is best for them, I would love to talk to you!
