Nikhil Lizotte has been playing basketball since he was little. By high school, he was a talented athlete, and major colleges began reaching out to recruit him. Eventually he enrolled with a full-ride scholarship at a state university in California, where he studied for two years.
But the city of Seattle, and the culture and community of SPU, drew him to transfer. “Once the opportunity to transfer presented itself, I knew it was the right choice,” he says. “Not only is SPU a great academic school, but it also has great athletics and it’s in Seattle. So it was a no-brainer for me to come here.”
Today, Nikhil is majoring in visual communications and contributing his basketball skills to SPU as a Falcon athlete. He hopes to pursue professional basketball, but knows his degree will also provide important security in his career.
Seattle Pacific’s faith emphasis has been important to Nikhil as well. “We have a Bible study group with six guys on the basketball team, and that has helped me learn more about them on a personal level,” he says. “We grow together as Christians, teammates, and friends. That’s an activity that’s been awesome as well.”
