Grants and scholarships, sometimes called gift aid, are funds you do not need to repay. If that sounds good, let’s look at the options.

Seattle Pacific University awards federal grants, state grants, institutional grants, and institutional scholarships. We also administer outside scholarships, including ROTC awards or veterans’ benefits, church match scholarships, and specific donor awards.

To qualify for scholarships, grants, and the most funding possible, your first step is to complete the financial aid application process and a FAFSA. In fact, your admission application is your application for most SPU scholarships!

If you’re an incoming first-year student, submit your application by March 1 to be considered for scholarships. For incoming transfer students, the application deadline is July 1.

Grant information

Grants are federal, state, and SPU funds that don’t have to be repaid. They’re awarded based on financial need. Take a closer look at some of the opportunities:

Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduate students based on their student aid index (SAI).

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOGs) are for undergraduates with exceptional financial need based on their SAI and range from $100 to $4,000 a year.

TEACH Grants offer up to $4,000 yearly to would-be teachers. Unlike other grants, these awards require students who receive them to pursue specific endorsements and teach in high-need fields, in a high-need area. If requirements are not met, the grant becomes a loan.

State College Grants help Washington’s lowest-income undergraduates. The grants are awarded based on income and financial need, continued academic progress, and available funds.

College Bound is a program for foster youth or eligible low-income undergraduate students who sign up for College Bound while in middle school.

SPU Grants are awarded to undergraduates based on financial need for up to five years from first receiving the grant. Your completed FAFSA is your application for an SPU grant.
