Types of Loans

Student Loans are financial obligations that must be repaid. Pay careful attention to the terms and conditions of any loan you accept to help pay for school. Do not borrow more than you need or can repay comfortably after leaving school.

Direct loans

Explore loans that are offered by the government through FAFSA.

PLUS loans

Find information about the Parent PLUS loan and Graduate PLUS loan. Upcoming federal loan changes could impact PLUS loan eligibility; be sure to read through the changes and legacy rules carefully.

Private (alternative) loans

Find information about private loans. While SPU cannot recommend private loans, you can see which loans SPU students have used in the past.

Nursing loans

Students in SPU's nursing program may be eligible for nursing loans funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Institutional loans

Learn about SPU's institutional loan program which may be offered to undergraduate students who demonstrate high financial need.
