The SPU Scholarship Match helps pair students with scholarship opportunities they are eligible for, to make sure all SPU scholarships can be matched with students who qualify. These opportunities can include a wide range of awards, based on a student’s major, experience, career goals, and more.
The application process is open to all students, incoming and continuing, undergraduate and graduate.
Accessing the Scholarship Match Site
You can access the Scholarship Match site by clicking the button below!
If you have an SPU ID number, you should be able to log in automatically, no password required. If it’s been a while since you logged into your SPU account, you may need to enter your mySPU email and password.
For incoming students, because you need an SPU ID number to enter the scholarship match site, this means you’ll want to complete your initial application to SPU first before applying for scholarships.
You can find your SPU ID number on your SPU ID card, or by going to Banner Student and selecting the four squares in the top left corner then clicking Banner> Personal Information Menu> Personal Details for Students.
How to Apply
Through your SPU ID number, the SPU Scholarships site already contains some scholarship eligibility information, like your major, year in school, enrollment, and so on. You can check this preloaded information in the "Applicant Record" section. If something in your Applicant record is not accurate, you can contact the Office of the Registrar.
When you enter the Scholarship Match page, you should see the General Application. This is so the system can find answers to questions that are more specialized, like certain activities you’ve participated in or goals for the future. After answering the questions, please submit the General Application for review.
It’s as easy as that to apply!
After You've Applied
After you submit the General Application, the information goes to different review teams, to help determine a student's eligibility. Applications are reviewed and notifications are sent Spring through early Fall.
If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive an email notification to your SPU email inbox notifying you of the award. Almost all scholarships from the Scholarship Match are awarded for one year only, and they are divided evenly throughout the school year. Students need to be enrolled full-time in order to receive the award.
If you do not receive an email notification, that means that unfortunately you did not receive an award for that academic year. However, there still may be an opportunity to receive an award in the following school year. Because these scholarship are one-year only, that means every school year the scholarship could go to a new student, to ensure as many students as possible have the chance to apply.
How to Write a Letter to the Donor
Most of the awards in the Scholarship Match database are funded through the incredible support of donors. These donors have given their support because they believe in the educational investment of the SPU community and in students like you!
As the recipient of a named scholarship, it is important for you to follow up with a personalized thank you letter to the donor(s) of the scholarship. Receiving a well-written thank you letter from the student(s) who received their scholarship is incredibly meaningful to our donors. Your letter shows the impact of their giving, reminds them of why they gave in the first place, and often helps secure continuing gifts to support even more students in the future.
Thank You Letter Writing Tips
Make sure the letter is free of spelling and grammatical errors; you are representing Seattle Pacific University, and the quality of your letter reflects on our whole community. We know that finding the words to express your gratitude may be challenging or intimidating, but it is important to let the donor know that their scholarship is appreciated.
Begin your letter by saying thank you and then tell your donor how the scholarship has helped support your academic plans, your school activities, and/or your career. Describe what the scholarship award means to you. Consider including other personal information, such as the reasons you chose Seattle Pacific, your hometown or family background, obstacles you have overcome to attend college, or positive impacts of attending Seattle Pacific.
Writing Tips:

- Be sincere and express enthusiasm
- Use the full name of the scholarship as it was awarded

- Re-read the letter out loud to check for grammar errors or confusing sentences you might have missed
