Mu of Washington chapter

The Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society, chapter Mu of Washington, was chartered on July 25th, 2016 in the School of Business, Government, and Economics at Seattle Pacific University.  Dr. Geri Mason serves as our Chapter Advisor.  Our founding Chapter Advisor was Dr. Douglas A. Downing.

History of Omicron Delta Epsilon
Omicron Delta Epsilon, one of the worlds largest academic honor societies, was created in 1963 through the merger of two honor societies, Omicron Delta Gamma and Omicron Chi Epsilon. At the time of their merger both societies had 28 chapters. Omicron Delta Gamma's chapters were primarily in the Midwestern and Pacific states while the chapters of Omicron Chi Epsilon were concentrated at Colleges and Universities along the Eastern Seaboard and in Texas. Membership Requirements for Omicron Delta Epsilon, Mu of Washington
New member invitations are determined upon the posting of Winter quarter grades in late March each year.  To be nominated for membership into the Mu of Washington chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, a student pursuing any major or minor at Seattle Pacific University must have satisfied the following requirements at the time of selection.

  • A minimum 3.00 overall grade point average must have been achieved.
  • A minimum grade point average of 3.50 must have been achieved in all Economics courses attempted.
  • A minimum of 18 quarter credits must have been earned in Economics courses.
  • The nominee for membership must affirm that the study of Economics is a "major interest" in their course of studies.

Induction into Omicron Delta Epsilon
Each May, the School of Business, Government, and Economics at Seattle Pacific University holds a joint honors program with Beta Gamma Sigma (Business and Accounting) and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science).  Following a joint welcome, the three local chapters conduct their induction ceremonies in adjacent rooms. The one-time membership fee of $40 accompanies the membership process.  Seniors may purchase the gold ODE honor stole (or medallion if they will be wearing other stoles, such as University Scholars) to wear at Ivy Cutting and Commencement in June.

Students inducted into the Mu of Washington chapter will have their names enshrined below.
